Recovery

Recovery

Recovery is becoming a “buzz word” in the Danish mental health system and it is important that all those involved in mental health agree upon what the word recovery means for the individual.

Recovery is a continuum from the absence of all symptoms- to the person being able to live with symptoms that are still there and integrate them in a positive manner in his/her life with or without medication.

Some of the key elements that my training will address are:

  • Understanding how each individual’s recovery is unique to him/herself.
  • Respecting that he/she is the expert by experience
  • Developing a context for making sense of the experience(s)
  • The importance of self acceptance
  • The significance of hope/bearer of hope
  • What looking forward rather than looking back means

Recovery is an individual process. I will, among other things, encourage participants to reassess their values and help them incorporate these newly found ideas into their working environment. I want to inspire hope which is vital for recovery for the service user and a necessary inspiration for the workers.

You as the professional can be the one who makes a difference!
